In 1977, Anthony John Denison, worked for John Hancock Insurance as a life insurance agent. He spent his spare time in various stage plays in New Paltz, New York. Has worked in many areas such as in the construction, as a chess tournament promoter, a back gammon tournament promoter, a life-insurance salesperson, a chauffeur, and as a newspaper editor. In the year 1987, when Ken Wahl suffered an injury that incapacitated him, Denison was chosen to fill the gap by playing another agent. He has now been a part of the famous TV series ‘Prison Break’ , ‘Boston Legal’ and ‘Criminal Minds’.
How far does your reel life character match up with your real life character?
This is perhaps the most difficult question to answer. Having not been in law enforcement I can call depend apart the information given me by real officers of the law. However, with that research in mind the next phase is creating an emotional reality for Lt. Flynn that comes from within. Flynn is a gamer; Loves what he does and can be at times loyal and determined. Like Flynn I Love what I do and strive to be loyal and determined at what I do.
Can you please share your experiences working in the phenomenal TV series like ‘Prison Break’, ‘NYPD Blue’, ‘The Closer’ and ‘Boston Legal’?
I appreciate any opportunity I get to perform--especially on shows that I enjoy. At the end of day you read the script, see where you can a bring an aspect of yourself to the character and then just show up, suit up and follow direction. Oh, and make sure you have fun.
Do you ever feel Stereotyped? Are you happy with the roles you are doing?
If I am able to be continually employed, doing what I Love, it does not matter to me if the roles be cops or robbers. Though sometime I would Love the opportunity to play a cowboy, or to play a politician or to play a lawyer. Meqanwhile I'm having a ball playing Flynn.
What is that one advice you would give to the upcoming actors?
Stay away from conversations from nay sayers. This negativity can have such an adverse effect on us all. A Columbia theatre professor, Dr. Robert Zuckerman once told me in Hollywood, "The only thing you can be sure of, is that there's nothing to be sure of!" And then lastly, Michael Mann once told me, "Do what you Love and the money will follow!"
Your movie ‘Trattoria’ is in the pipeline for release, tell us something about your character in the movie?
I so Loved making this film. Sal Sartini is in all of us. We must not in pursuit of our dreams forsake ourself and all others. There's a great quote in the Bilbe; "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?"
What are your other upcoming projects? Have you signed any?
You can answer this one for me...but please don't forget to include my business partner and friend Joel Bess and the projects we have coming into the pipeline in both TV and radio, through our company JUCILIAN
